Romeo loves them!
5/ 5stars

My cat loves these things. Hed eat as many as Id give him and is disappointed he only gets two a day. LolIts very important to remember to break them up into 3-4 pieces. Otherwise, they're just too big for a cat to eat. I use a small pair of scizzors to cut them up easily, and then he gobbles down t he pieces.Ill update the review when hes had time to hopefully have a positive effect on his health.UPDATE...by day two, my cat is acting his old self again. And after having a poor appetite, hes now eating the boiled chicken I have been feeding to try to get him to eat more, as well as canned food, and dry food. Hes cuddling, purring. This is an amazing overnight change. I know vet researchers are saying lysine doesnt really help. But I say theyre wrong. My cat is a perfect example of responding very quickly to lysine. Read more

Vet recommended!
5/ 5stars

*Long review here*My vet recommended these to me after my kitty was diagnosed with cat acne. I noticed she had some black dirt on her chin one day and started scratching at it, eventually that led to pustules of acne that I could tell were causing her pain. Fast forward, we end up at the vet with an antibiotic shot and a steroid shot to clean up her chin. Little did I know, cat acne IS a thing and its caused by herpes in felines that over 80 of cats have! Crazy! My vet recommended one of these treats a day to help her autoimmune system fight herpes flare ups so she doesnt get acne anymore. Her chin has cleared up so much! Read more

Miracle treats
5/ 5stars

My fianc and I adopted a seemingly healthy clearance kitten from a shelter. His adoption fee was only 25 and I was thrilled. I figured it was because of overcrowding. A couple days later, his eye started looking funky so we took him straight to the vet. Hundreds of dollars later, we found out that h e had feline herpes. I went home and took a closer look at his papers and found out why his adoption fee was so cheap. In the smallest print ever it read *feline herpes outbreak at shelter*. For years we have tried all different meds, even diffusers in our home, nothing worked. We have been cleaning his eyes out daily for three years now. I was speaking to a family friend when she told me about these treats. This picture is the first day I gave him the treats and the second picture is three days later. I am amazed at how well they work. So grateful to have found relief for my baby. He is usually a picky eater, but LOVES these treats. He gets so excited when the bag comes out. I have never left an amazon review before, but I felt the need to share the word and my experience with this miracle cure. Read more

1 Cats Likes Them 1 Cat Hates Them -Update
4/ 5stars

This product is hard to review because it comes down to your cat's individual taste. One of my cats has some redness and dried tears in one eye and has for the last couple of weeks. A friend recommended giving him Lysine so I decided to try this because it's in treat form instead of the paste. The c at that needs it only ate 80 of one and refused to touch the other. My other cat, who is healthy and doesn't necessarily need this LOVED them and scarfed them down with no hesitation. Now I'm going to have to try to get another product with Lysine and hope the cat that needs it, will eat it in another form. Sort of a waste of money for me but I need to try something with the picky cat.Update: I discovered when I tear the treats into tiny pieces, my cat will eat it whether I mix it into his food or not. It appears he only disliked it because giving to him whole caused him to have to try to chew it and it wasn't worth it to him. Now I'm able to give him his medicine doses with no problems. Read more

kittens who lost their mother
4/ 5stars

Used it for kittens who lost their mother when they were just a few days old. They lost their ability to fight off infection due to loss of the mother's milk (supplement formulas just cannot match the mother's milk) and by 4-5 weeks they were getting nasal and eye infections. Lysine boosts their imm unity until they are old enough to gain their strength and are eating well. They are now 4 months old, very healthy and no longer need the Lysine supplement. 500 mg per day is what I gave them but ask for your vet for advice. They eat normal kitty treats now. If you have a cat with feline herpes, they may need to continue taking it. Always be sure to check with your vet. Read more

Tips learned over time that helped success with Vetri-Lysine Plus...
4/ 5stars

These work very well for my cat, however, I've had to experiment over time to get it right. These tips may not work for other cats, but in case they do, here's what worked for us. She loooves these but they are too big for her to chew, so I always break them up into smaller pieces. I've noticed over time that this must help it get into her system better because her feline herpes (compliments of the shelter) symptoms seem to be less when the pieces are smaller. I also make sure she has a dish of water right next to it as they get dry. Even if the package is moist when it is first opened and you make sure the seal is intact each time it is re-closed, they still get dry. Also, thanks to other reviewers who posted that their vets recommended a higher dosage, I experimented with the amount I give her per day by a half of a treat/several days increase until I found the right maintenance dose for her. If her symptoms crop up, I slightly increase the dosage until they subside and cut back a bit on her daily food to make up for the calorie difference. This is the only way she will take her medicine so it's made it worth my time to break them into pieces! :-)Thanks to all reviewers who've helped me make informed decisions and experiment and give this product a chance! And thanks to Amazon and its vendors for making this product affordable or I would have had a difficult choice to make re: my cat's health and happiness. Read more

Works very well
5/ 5stars

I have spent thousands on vet bills and too much on antibiotics (which can be harmful)which after some time stopped working. Our vet even suggested we put our cat to sleep because he has severe upper respiratory infection from time to time. I started looking online for ways to help him with suppleme nts. Our vet suggested he take lysine when he has flare ups. I found out he needs this stuff everyday for the rest of his life. If I miss a couple days without the supplements he starts sneezing again. I usually give 2 pills everyday when he starts sneezing. I give one time in the morning and one in the night. My cat wont eat them even though I break them into smaller pieces so I have to smash it with a spoon until it becomes a powder. I then mix with 1/2 teaspoon of water until it is very smooth, I use a syringe and squirt a little at a time into my cats mouth. This stuff really works well and saves thousands on vets bills. When he is not sneezing and doing well I give only one pill once a day. Putting him in the bathroom when I shower also really helps. Make sure the water is very warm and just let him hang out in there. I hope this helps. :) Read more

Vetri-lysine helped my herpes ridden cat! Her quality of life has greatly improved. :)
5/ 5stars

Our cat, Pumpkin, is a retired show cat. The breeder we adopted her from, never told us why she was retired. After having her for about a year, we found out she had herpes. Over the years the group in her ears and eyes got worse and within the last two years, she has become so congested in both her chest as well as nasal passages. She is so bad that it makes it difficult to hold her and pet her because she sneezes all over you. After many trips to the veterinarians office, as well as medicine and shots to treat, we found out about lysine. After doing a little research we found Vetri-lysine plus. Within two weeks we noticed an improvement, and have been giving Pumpkin two pills a day. From the moment we open the bag, Pumpkin and her two sisters are eagerly waiting. The chews have a meat smell they go bananas for, and everyone wants to eat Pumpkin's treats! If your cat has herpes, I believe this product may help--it sure helped Pumpkin! After four weeks of use, my only hope is that she continues to improve!Clearly she is not interested in having her picture taken right now. :D Read more

Most Effective Given On An Empty Stomach!
5/ 5stars

My now 14-yr old cat got the nasty upper respiratory (herpes) virus as a kitten and the shelter was going put her down. Luckily she was rescued by a local cat rescue agency and put for adoption. By the time she left the shelter the virus had permanently damaged one of her eyes. It typically is water y and clouded over but she's learned to live with it and really doesn't seem to bother her. What does bother her is the sneezing fits that come along with this nasty virus. These treats not only help with the watery eye, but they cut down on the sneezing WHEN GIVEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH! My vet recommended them and I tried 2 or 4 per day but they did not seem to help at all, until I read in a blog somewhere that they are more effective given on an empty stomach. The difference was night and day. Luckily my cat loves the treats. I have to give 4 - 5 per day, otherwise they are not as effective against the sneezing. She gets 2 1/2 in the morning before her dry food, and the other 2 1/2 in the late afternoon after she wakes up from her afternoon nap! She still sneezes occasionally but it's nowhere near as frequent as before. Read more
