Beauty and Elegance!
I had one more curtain rod in my home that I could potentially replace, so I was excited to install this curtain rod from Haven. The rod itself is very pretty and the color is somewhere between a bronze and a gold - bronze-gold, maybe I really like the tiered square decorative end, too. This Haven c
urtain rod absolutely adds beauty to any room and can dress up any curtain, if that's part of the goal - and it was for me. The curtain rod is 36 inches long and expands to 72 inches, and I probably could have gotten away with just using the rod without its extension. However, the basement (my husband's workspace) is akin to a black hole, so storing it there would likely just be a bad idea. I was also concerned that given the rod seemed to barely reach the brackets that were already there, that it may stretch the rod too far, weaken it and separate it when opening the curtains. In the end, I decided to use the extension. Using the extension for that particular window places the square ends about 1 inch out on either side, but that's fine for the master bedroom. I did notice that when opening the curtains, the rod moved to the right because it snagged on the plastic ring in the middle. To avoid this, I ensured that the plastic in the middle joining the pieces created a seamless rod to prevent the curtain from getting hung up in the center of the rod. This Haven curtain rod is elegant and beautfiul, and brings out the bronze design in the darkening heat-regulating curtains that I also purchased at Wal-mart. These heat-regulating curtains do their job, but they are not fancy, so the curtain rod helps dress them up a bit. The rod is not heavy at all, but it isn't too light, either. The craftsmanship is outstanding and so is the quality. It comes with the brackets to hold the 1 inch rod - and you will likely need to use these. For now, I didn't use them, though, and we simply made the part that holds the rod bigger to accommodate the 1-inch rod. If I were to use this curtain rod in my living room (larger window), I would definitely install the brackets that came with the curtain and the supporting middle bracket. They are heavier and are truly meant to be used with this curtain rod. Overall, the Haven curtain rod has a price point that is about what you would expect for its craftsmanship, beauty and elegance.
