Epitome of Catnip-Filled Cat Toys
5/ 5stars

The Yeowww! Catnip Banana is the closest thing you can get to a sure thing in a cat toy. I have probably bought 3 bunches of these so far for my cats, shelter/foster donations, and gifts. Most cats that are 6-9 months and older react to catnip can see the color yellow and enjoy the bearhug (simultane aously kicking and biting). All three of mine are banana fans to different extents. One likes to sit and lick it. Eww. Another won't look for it, but if she stumbles upon it will look around furtively and then sit on it...for hours...eventually dragging it to her secret hidey hole for a good hour of cheeking. Kitty number three finds the banana to be an aggressor that needs to be pursued, taken down, and detained. Did you know bananas can fly Cats, too. That catnip is funny stuff if you inhale. Which I do not, obviously. Some cats simply don't react to catnip at a particular lifestage or at all. They may still have fun kicking the banana around. Or they may look at you like you have three heads.Yeowww also sells other versions of this toy. Over time I have seen a fish, a lemon, a cigar, and some tiny fish. Skip them all in favor of the banana. The combination of the shape and the color just works...and you will want to replace it (ewww) long before the cats are ready.A note on imitations: don't bother. I have, in times of need, purchased Yeowww banana knockoffs from my local pet store. Half the price--what could go wrong The catnip scent wasn't that strong to begin with, and the poser bananas will fail to attract cats within a week. Although I'm all about half-price, it's just not worth it here. Get the good stuff.I do not work for Yeowww! but my living room often smells like I do. -) Read more

it's worth a try for any cat owner because he LOVED this toy - - - for 10 minutes - ...
3/ 5stars

Well, our black cat Jack (BlackJack) didn't wait for me to open it when it came in the mail. He jumped up on a high table where the package was placed, knocked it off, and proceeded to rip the shipping package it came in, into shreds. It was at that point I suspected it was his catnip toy, and indee d it was. The only problem is that within 10 minutes, he had also torn the banana to shreds. 10 MINUTES! Now I don't want to rate this product badly because Jack is no ordinary 3 year old cat. He had to fight his way through his first 3 months of life in a rescue before he was adopted, being bullied by the bigger cats in the same cage. That experience left him being a fighter and he loves to fight, bite, scratch and hiss so we play very hard together. He also has some amazingly over sized canines which is what did the job on this toy (he was unfortunately declawed at 1 year after almost killing us). That said, it is an ideal toy for cat owners who have normal cats. As cheap as it is, it's worth a try for any cat owner because he LOVED this toy - - - for 10 minutes - - - until I had to take it away because he ripped the seam and all the catnip started pouring out. Again, cats love it so it's a good product for normal cats so don't rethink purchasing it if you have a normal cat. If it lasts, it just might be one of your cat's favorite toys. Damage and cat can be seen in photos. Read more

It's a dud

I have two cats--one loves catnip and the other ignores it. I had purchased this same catnip banana several years ago and my one cat went bonkers over it for months. I decided to buy a new one--in fact I bought two catnip bananas and two catnip cigars. My catnip loving feline took one whiff and walk ed away--from all four! Of course my non-catnip loving cat didn't even take one sniff. I don't know if these four items were old or what, but I wouldn't waste your money on them. Read more

Great for cats who respond strongly to catnip
4/ 5stars

This is a wonderful catnip toy. I bought it for my 16-year-old Siamese cat, who liked it, but didn't go crazy over it. She rubbed her face all over it and drooled on it a little bit, but after about 5 minutes, she was pretty much done. This isn't necessarily the toy's fault, as I think her response to catnip has decreased as she's aged (she used to go crazy in her younger days), but a word of caution that not every cat is going to go bananas over this toy (sorry, had to make the pun). I took the banana back with me after winter break and let a 14-year-old cat my boyfriend was catsitting have a go at it, and she loved it. She was drooling all over it and biting, hugging, and licking it. She pretty easily put some puncture marks in the banana with her teeth, which was a little worrying, but nothing ripped or spilled. Then I eventually gave the banana to my other friend's young tomcat who doesn't have many toys and did actually go crazy over it. He's pretty rough on everything (he rips into unopened cereal boxes and eats the cereal, he opened and ate my friend's wrapped fortune cookie when he was in the shower, he generally just destroys things). Well, he bit the banana, rolled on the ground whipping it from side to side, clawed it, wouldn't let go of it, etc. He's had it for several days now and still plays with it every day. He's drooled through the yellow cloth, so the banana is green now from the catnip. It looks a little battered, but so far hasn't ripped. So overall, I'm definitely pleased with this toy, as I purposely bought a relatively expensive cat toy knowing that I wanted to spoil my old Siamese, and even if she didn't like it, I'd be able to gift it to another cat who would definitely love it and get a lot of good use out of it, not having many toys of his own. Cat 1 - Banana 0
1/ 5stars

Read all the reviews and tips for this product. I knew my cat would eventually win the match, but I thought the banana would at least win a couple of rounds. First fight, round one, one punch and it's a knockout!!! (Translation: Day 1 and it's already ripped and now I have catnip all over the floor) .One star because Pootie Tang had a good time ripping this up. Read more

kitties are delighted
5/ 5stars

A big hit with my two middle-aged kitties, especially on first exposure. The cloth-surfaced toy feels like it's packed with catnip from end to end, quite a difference from smaller toys that are mostly stuffing (or the cheap ones that only have a catnip pouch). If you've never seen a catnip-loving cat react to a fresh, intense new catnip toy (like this one) coming out of the wrapper with a burst of aroma, you owe it to yourself and kitty alike. This isn't the cheapest toy, but even just my black cat's (pictured) first ten minutes with this banana was worth the price. Recommended. Read more

Not durable but my cat LOVED it
4/ 5stars

This is magnetic to Aidan, and he could not stop playing with it. He would roll on the floor, toss the banana around and nibble on the toy. I would have given it 5 stars however the toy was ripped within 24 hours!! I guess that's the testimony of how much my cat loves this! My 2nd cat didn't care fo r it.Once it was ripped, I just emptied the content into a ziplock bag and you can tell that thing was PACKED with catnip (unlike some toys only contain flakes of it). I gave the deflated banana back to him, and he still had fun with it for an hour. Oh well! for 5.99, I got 24 hr play and a bag of catnip. I will assume durability highly depends on how aggressive your cats play too. Mine just didn't last long at all! Read more

Cat loves it, but ripped through the tip within the first hour :(
/ 5stars

My cat really likes this toy, but after the first hour it became more of a catnip dispenser than anything else. My cat is a decent size, about 16 lbs, so it's not all surprising that it broke, but I do wish it were a bit tougher. Catnip everywhere. That said, he still loves it and enjoys the catnip t hat it throws everywhere. I just have to limit the play time and clean up afterward. Read more
