VERY dusty, strange malty smell :/
2/ 5stars

Very disappointed in this product. We were very surprised by the texture, it's basically like cornbread mix or sawdust, and is VERY dusty. Not sure how they can claim it's 98 dust free, it basically IS 98 dust! Our cats and their paws are covered in the stuff when they leave the litter box, and we f ind little dust-paw prints on everything -- the counters, our sheets, it's pretty gross (see image). Clumps well and is easy to scoop, we like that it is much lighter weight than typical kitty litter. Does cover the scent of the cat-waste fairly well, but it has sort of a weird peanut butter/malty scent that fills the whole apartment and is unappetizing in it's own way. The search for the perfect kitty litter continues... Read more

Infested with grain mites!
1/ 5stars

I have used this litter for years and loved it but the last few bags have been infested with grain mites. It's lightweight and lets off very little dust. It has good odor control although you should scoop your box daily bits do fall off and stay in the litter, creating the potential for odor. I usua lly add another bag to replenish until changing out the whole batch and can go three weeks just scooping daily and replenishing as needed in a multiple cat household. Being flushable is nice too. One thing to note is that cats who tend to be Hoovers (like the vacuum) may find this litter delicious. I have a very special cat who will eat all manner of odds and ends kale, rubber bands, cardboard, you name it. When I first change the box he will have a few bites of litter, but once someone does some business in it he quits. It's bizarre and kind of cute, but not really an issue with the litter. My problem is with the grain mites in the last few bags. I'm not squeamish but this bothers me, so I'm going to use a different product for a while. Read more

A lot of potential, quality issues
2/ 5stars

I like this product, but there are some quality issues that I hope the manufacturer addresses.First, the good: the malty odor noted by others smells a lot better to me than alternative litter types. WBCL clumps well. I appreciate the fact that it is theoretically flush-able and is made of organic ma terial, so it should break down. Odor leakage is kept to a minimum, presuming reasonable litter upkeep. The issues:(1) The shipping bags (which feel like they should withstand a 10 story drop) have once arrived with a major tear in the bag (see pic) and once torn with minor stress to the bag. The tear was likely not helped by lack of supporting packaging during shipping.(2) The DUST.. or more accurately: sand. The corn-derived material produces a fine powder, which--if not carefully sifted--tracks EVERYWHERE. I have found this residue wherever my cat sits (makes me cringe at what invisible material she tracks around...). I estimate that 10 - 20 of the volume of the litter is corn sand (after sifting about 10 cups of litter, there was a pile of it... see pics). I think this would be a lot better if the manufacturer (a)delivered slightly coarser grain and (b)sifted the product before delivery. This wouldn't be an issue if the litter were outside, but it definitely is in my one bedroom apartment.Dear World's Best Cat Litter: I like your product. I hope you can address the above as this would then be a 5-star product to me. Read more

Really worth it.
5/ 5stars

I realize that people (and their cats) have very strong feelings about cat litter. But, if you haven't yet tried World's Best, I strongly suggest that you do.This is a two-part review of the product itself and the subscribe and save program. In the past eleven years, I have tried nearly ten varieties of cat litter: clay (store brand and national brand), crystals (national brand), newspaper (store brand and national brand), pine-based (store brand and national brand), and two varieties of corn-based litter. When someone first suggested World's Best I scoffed at the price. After having used it for more than two years, I can say that hands down, this really is the BEST cat litter we've used. Our cats seem to agree.World's Best cat litter reliably clumps, produces no discernable dust, controls odors, and lasts. We have two cats and three litter boxes. One bag lasts us 4-6 weeks. As an added benefit, the unscented variety is compostable (excluding fecal solids, of course). We have a large property and add the urine clumps and extra litter to the large leaf and garden waste pile (not for our food garden). For those unfamiliar with composting or squeamish about this idea, urea is commonly added to compost to speed the decomp process. Just think about how much cat litter goes into the landfill.Through the subscribe and save program, I automatically receive a bag of this litter each month at a discount. This is an incredible benefit. With a busy family and two professional parents, time is a scarce commodity in my home. Cat litter is an item that, when needed, is needed urgently. And, as cat owners know, not any litter will do. Before adding this litter to my subscribe and save list, I many times found myself driving out of the way to purchase litter only to find out that the store didn't carry this variety or that store was sold out. Thank you, Amazon. Read more

Appropriately named World's Best Cat Litter !
5/ 5stars

So as a young child I had a cat. As an adult I've visited many places that owned cats. There really isn't anything worse than a house that smells like cat pee or the nasty clay cat litter. A well kept and beautiful house is totally ruined with nasty cat smell. So, when our family decided to get a ca t it was a decision I didn't take lightly and I wanted to make sure to prevent that. I researched quite a bit before making a choice.I saw reviews on a lot of different cat litters and ultimately despite the price I decided this one was worth a shot. This cat litter is SOOOOO different from what I remember about cat litters. It is made of corn and can be flushed down the toilet which is insanely convenient. It does have a fragrance that to me smells like corn but I have had guests come and ask them what they smell and they didn't even notice it at all. So I'm unsure if there is any real fragrance that isn't in my head. The thing that really shocks me about the cat litter is how well it clumps!!!! It's crazy I just don't even know how it does it. It's inexplainable. I can tell you when your cat uses the box it forms a little perfect ball/cone and it separates from the rest of the litter perfectly. I have noticed one thing that I find myself wondering is some peoples problem. If you only put a tiny bit of litter in the box (which is what I was used to do from childhood) and the pee makes it all the way to the bottom of the pan it's somewhat problematic. Then when you try to get it out you gotta get it unstuck from the bottom and ultimately YOU break up the perfect clump. If you simply fill the box more the benefits are remarkable. It clumps so amazing it doesn't really leave behind any yucky when you sift it so from what I experienced so far you really don't need to empty the whole pan every couple days so you aren't wasting by over filling it. The trick is simply to have enough litter in the pan that it forms 1 clump without making it all the way to the bottom of the pan. I put about 4 inches I'd say in mine and it's perfection.FOR THE TLDR people:PROS:1.) MOST AMAZING CLUMPING I'VE EVER SEEN.2.) FLUSHABLE3.) IF CLEANED FREQUENTLY AS IT SHOULD BE NO CAT SMELL.4.) NO DUST5.) NO OVERWHELMING SMELL FROM THE CAT LITTER ITSELF.CONS:1.) COST - In the realm of cat litters it's more expensive than most others.--- I truly can't think of any other cons.CONSENSUS - This is the greatest cat litter ever. It works, it's no hassle, it's amazing. The cost is without a doubt worth it. Cat lovers around the world have to be rejoicing when this was invented. It takes all the unpleasant tasks of owning a cat and leaves only the good.----EDIT---Added pictures to show you the awesome clumping action. Read more

It used to be the best but I've noticed
2/ 5stars

I've been using this litter for 9 years and nothing else. It used to be the best but I've noticed, though, that it's more and more dusty lately. My cat tracks this all over the apartment. Last month he was throwing up all dry food given (he is on a wet and dry diet and gets very little dry food. I w ould have him on a wet food only diet if I was home to feed him 4x a day!) and had bowel movement issues - he was only going once every five days or so. After bringing samples to his vet they determined that because he was licking so much of the dust off of himself, it was making his poop more of a clay consistency and harder for it to come out, and was causing a blockage in his intestines. After looking at x-rays, they also noticed it was forming in small clumps. His vet suggested I change to a newspaper based litter which is going to be more frustrating to keep up with, but much better for my cat's health. Read more

I see why its so popular!
5/ 5stars

This is by far the best litter in all categories. Ive used a variety of brands, including Fresh Step and Arm and Hammer I prefer clumping, and many are fair at keeping odors down Still there is always that scent of ammonia. I decided it was time for a change and found this wow.I had my doubts. It do esnt look like clumping litter. It doesnt have some sort of scent to mask the smells. It looks different. Since using it (my cat, not me) I never smell ammonia anymore. Im not sure how it works, but even the added masking scents of the other brands cant compete, and I dont have to also smell deodorizer. Then there is the clumping. Far better than any other cat litter Ive tried (and again, I mean my cat, not me). Even scooping it is less messy. Often I find when using the scoop, small bits of litter fall off, but not with this. And urine clumps hold together completely.Dust. Okay, lets face it, is there such a thing as completely dust free I mean, if I shake anything hard enough, including myself, some bit of dust comes off (and no, I have never shaken my cat). But still, this is almost dust free. When I pour this inside the top-entry box my cat uses, theres extremely little dust on the sides. I had to run a damp fingertip all around the perimeter to pick up even the tiniest bit of dust. Thats far better than the cloud of dust I get when pouring other brands into the box. And it sure makes emptying the box a much nicer task.I pour a good 4 inches into the cat box. This allows my cat, who seems to have an excessively large bladder, to urinate to her hearts content, and it doesnt leak to the bottom of the box. I do scoop every morning, removing anything my cat has left. I add more as needed. And I change the litter every 3 weeks. I do find I can go 3 weeks with this, as opposed to the other brands, which always required changing at 2 weeks.I like this litter so much that for the first time I joined the Subscribe and Save to have it regularly delivered. 5 Stars. I still *love* this litter but.... BUGS!!!
4/ 5stars

We've used this litter for 2 cats for 6+ months and have been very pleased with the odor control, lack of dust, ease of clean-up.... and then, Friday happened. You know what's an awfully unpleasant way to become fully awake When you go to clean out the cat litter first thing in the morning and realiz e that the litter is moving. MOVING. Coffee can't touch the amount of adrenaline that will race through your system when you find dozens of these little brown Satan seedlings crawling all over the litter box. Your first thought will be, Dear God above, it's fleas!! You will envision the hours and hours of attempting to rid your home of fleas. You've already mentally given up and put your house on the market. Then, you will calm yourself, and say, Self, these are indoor cats. They've not been anywhere to contract fleas. Then, heart still pounding, you move to the next likely suspects: the furry beasts themselves - they've eaten something and pooped out living creatures just to show their disdain for you! You inspect their food it's not moving, but of course they could have eaten anything. Anything! So you start googling cat poop bug and cat litter crawling and why do cats hate people. And, much to your joy and delight (relative to the situation, of course), you find that the litter itself is the culprit! Being corn based, it attracts pantry beetles. Hooray! (Hooray...) You throw out the offending litter and pour a fresh new batch. And what should your eyes behold - bugs!! Yay! The cats don't hate you! You don't have to move! It's the litter!!In summation --- +5 stars for this litter. We love it, we will keep using it, but we will keep it unused portion sealed in the garage and check thoroughly when we pour it. --- -18 stars for the Friday morning heart attack that had me contemplating leaving my family and starting afresh in Scotland. I like this one because the dust is very minimal
5/ 5stars

I have tried over 20 cat litters. I like this one because the dust is very minimal, compared to others, and it actually clumps (all of the other 'natural' litters I have tried are terrible, in this regard). I also like that it's flushable its not a feature I use much, but nice to know that its avail able. I will say that my parents also tried this litter and felt that the odor control was poor I personally keep the litter box in my laundry room, which is less than 10 feet from my dining table, and I have never noticed a significantly bad smell, so I guess I leave it to you to decide if you agree. The only other litter that I have found that clumps as well is FreshStep, but I will NOT go back to that litter, as it is extremely dusty (leaves dust all over your home and is not good for your cat's lungs) and makes your cats smell badly. In short, I would recommend this litter, I hope you like it as much as I do (and don't have my parent's experience - maybe start with a smaller bag to see if you like it). Read more

If your cat loves carby foods, dont buy!!!
1/ 5stars

Ive gotta say that I was seriously excited about finding a cat litter that clumps and locks odor as good as my current Purina Tidy Cats clumping litter but is DUST FREE. I was tired of constantly wiping dust off of bathroom surfaces and having the dust fly into my face when cleaning the litter box. So when I received this product I immediately did as advised on the transition instructions and filled the top part of the litter box with this new litter. And was I in for a surprise! My cat came up to the litter box and literally began eating this litter off the top!!! I was mortified!!! I assume because the litter is made out of corn it smells carby and may attract some cats that tend to like carby or starchy foods. So if you notice your cat having a tendency to like things like chips or bread, I would caution you about buying this litter. My cat absolutely loves chips but I didnt think it would eat this and no other reviewer had mentioned this as a problem for them. And I spent a fantastic amount of time reading reviews about this specific cat litter. So thought Id share in case someone else owns a carb-loving cat. Read more
