Good Taste Pet Accepts Brushing
5/ 5stars

Taste is VERY IMPORTANT so that pet looks forward to and accepts brushing. I am a veterinarian who only does dentistry and this product is a winner.

Warning... You may want to order poultry flavor
1/ 5stars

There has either been a change in formulation or factory error. Use to be a brown paste. This is now a clear gel, that doesn't smell like beef and tastes sweet. There are reported cases that the wrong product is loaded into tubes, and I hope that is not the case. If there has been a drastic formula change, the company needs to repackage. AND my dog also doesn't like it, which makes me suspicious that this may not be the intended product. Read more

Great dog toothpaste. Dog likes the flavor.

I have to brush my rescue chihuahua's teeth nightly. I adopted her when she was approximately 2 years old. Her teeth were in terrible shape! She had apparently been fed only soft food as she disliked hard kibble. I have since weaned her to hard kibble designed for toy dogs which is much better for h er teeth. She also will not chew any dental bones. Her breath was absolutely atrocious when I adopted her! Her breath smell improved after a few days of daily brushing, but it took over 9 months to get 80 of the dark nasty brown gunk off her teeth. The vet was amazed at the improvement in her teeth at her first yearly check-up. The vet had initially recommended a complete deep cleaning of her teeth on her initial visit as her teeth were so bad. I hated to put her through that ordeal so I tried daily brushing with this product alternated with the Petrodent poultry flavor toothpaste in the hopes that I could prevent the dental cleaning procedure. I also use the Zymox brushless enzymatic gel or spray every AM. It took a few months, but her teeth are now almost completely spotless. They should be spotless after approximately 18 months of twice daily treatment. Well worth it to me to prevent the ordeal cost of a vet dental cleaning. I am sure she is happier with the teeth brushing rather than undergoing a dental cleaning. My other dog hated going to the vet after I had his teeth cleaned by the vet. He was a terrier hated having his teeth brushed. I am very thankful that my chihuahua does not mind the home dental care at all. She has become accustomed to her twice daily dental routine. Bizarre taste and odd appearance. Different than in the past
1/ 5stars

Yikes, I've used CET products successfully in the past, but this was a big fail. I ordered the beef but was sent vanilla-mint by mistake. When I contacted Amazon they promptly resent the correct flavor-Beef- but this one is a completely clear gel. I tasted a speck off my finger, and there's zero tas te except sort of an artificially sweetened gelatin. My dog flattens himself, backs away and refuses to accept it. (Normally, while he doesn't love tooth brushing, he will at least tolerate it.) Read more

dog likes it
5/ 5stars

My vet recommended this toothpaste to me and we bought it right away. Ours didn't have any of the mold issue described in some of the negative reviews for this product. Our dog took to it right away and even though we only use it once a week, it's kept away a lot of her teeth build up. My dog is 3.5 years old and had her first teeth cleaning at 3 years old. When she went to get her annual check-up, the vet could tell that we were using this toothpaste! This should prevent her from needing another cleaning until she's 5 years old hopefully! Great bang for your buck and my dog gets excited when we approach her with a toothbrush! Read more

It Works
4/ 5stars

My dog has had her teeth brushed nightly with this toothpaste (beef flavor) since I brought her home 2.5 yrs ago. They are pearly white. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it contains sorbitol, which Im not sure is a good idea.

Really effective toothpaste GEL
5/ 5stars

I had used only the poultry flavored paste for my little dog in the past. I was a little concerned with the reviews about the beef flavored GEL. I like it better because it's easier to work with. Sometimes the paste would get on his fur around his mouth. This is easier and he does not object at all. BUT he is a good little boy!! Read more

Simply, it works
5/ 5stars

Just a note, it is best to start treatment with a new pup or immediately following a full dental cleaning before applying. This toothpaste will help with tartar maintenance, but will not remove years of tartar from your animal's teeth. I use this along with an Ultra Soft (ONLY) bristle toothbrush an d the clean teeth left behind well after the dental cleaning is proof of the results. I prefer the Beef flavor because it is a clear consistency. By that I mean it makes less mess if your animal spits some out. As with all animal toothpastes, make sure you brush at night after they drink. Part of the cleaning effect relies on the paste sticking to their teeth to do the job. And just like humans, this needs to be a daily routine for it to work.Application-in order or benefit1) toothbrush (ultra soft bristle only) and run it under warm water for a few seconds to soften the bristles each time2) silicone finger brush3) bare fingerThe earlier you start with the toothbrush the easier it will be for your pet to tolerate. Some pickier pets will let you start with a bare finger and work up to the toothbrush. And don't feel guilty if your pet won't ever allow for the toothbrush. Getting any amount of this cleaning toothpaste on their teeth is better than nothing and will at least help extend the dental cleaning interval. Read more
